LeoStella | US: Safe Shock and Vibe Testing of Microsatellites

The client

BlackSky (formerly: LeoStella) in Seattle/USA is revolutionizing the development and production of small satellites (microsatellites). With a strong focus on scalable and cost-efficient production processes for small satellites, LeoStella enables the development of new services and products that rely on satellites in earth orbit to provide a variety of data.

The solution

LeoStella employs an m+p international vibration control system to simulate launch environments. The setup integrates m+p VibControl software with m+p VibRunner acquisition hardware to drive sine, random, and shock profiles. For critical mission safety, LeoStella leverages vector notching for Force Limited Vibration Testing (FLVT), safeguarding the payload during qualification.

The result

The system guarantees testing precision while monitoring vibrations in all three dimensions, protecting against over-testing and sensor failure. With the throughput option, all raw time data is recorded, allowing for seamless downstream analysis and data processing.
